That Time I Played at Podcasting…and Fell In Love.

Here is the podcast that I made for class. I had a lot of fun making it. I ended up using Adobe Premiere to put all of the audio together and checked out an Audio-Technica M-Audio Microtrack II from Shoen Library to record myself speaking. The intro/Outro music is titled Kamera and is performed by Wilco. I hope you guys enjoy this. I had a lot of fun putting this together and think that with a bit of practice I could really get into this podcasting thing.

Photography Talk

Follow Jake Carlsen’s Blog on WordPress.com

Well I have begun writing my podcast episode. I have decided to talk about one of my favorite photography exercises. It was born out of a bit of advice from a friend that had noticed that I was getting a little too caught up in the gear that I was bringing to a session rather than the session itself. I think that it is going to be fun. I just hope that talking about such a visual process will translate to audio well. I have listened to a good number of other people attempting similar things and I think it can be done. Wish me luck.

What are the topics that the rest of you have chosen? I have seen some of them being mentioned in the Twitter discussion for #LIT306, but I haven’t heard them all yet.

Coming Up With Some Ideas

Follow Jake Carlsen’s Blog on WordPress.com

Well I have been listening to some new podcasts today. One of them that stands out to me the most is The Candid Frame: A Photography Podcast. In the bit I have listened to, it seems that the show centers around the host interviewing artists that interest him and having them share a bit about themselves and the process that they use to make images. In a way, he is providing a how-to podcast and a good interview as well. I have a few more shows to listen to, but this one really has me thinking. I have an artist that I would love to interview about her growth from photography and into other mediums…maybe I can make an interesting show out of it.

How is everyone else coming along? Have you come up with any ideas based on what you have been listening to? Are you already under way recording your podcast?

In my TOC presentation, I ended up sounding like I was almost asleep while I spoke. I am wondering how I will go about making myself be a bit more lively while speaking in this project. Any suggestions?

We had a fantastic time. You could not ask for better weather in January. This trip, Aage went through the process of giving the animals names. The biggest hit was Harold and Jerry the Giraffes. The people around us all agreed that these are fine choices for names. Aage started yelling hello at people passing by again. This is something that he used to do when he was one and two but had stopped when he turned three and decided that he was a shy boy. I have to admit that I hope he takes up this outgoing habit again. I was always a shy boy and having a son that is able to be warm and open with anyone he comes across is really heartwarming and exciting.

Reading, reading, reading.

Today has been, and will continue to be, a day full of reading. I started the day reading from my new pocket edition of The Hobbit and then proceeded to read the news while eating breakfast. After that, I began reading through some works that I began last term that I had decided to put down for a bit and come back to, see if I can find a new way into them and make them something I will want to submit. Then I started reading a dear friend’s script that he wrote for a pilot he will be filming in a couple months. I am about a third of the way through the script and am loving it. I think that Don is on to something good here and I am honored that he thought I should give it a look and maybe even share some of my thoughts about it. All in all, it has been a fantastic day. I hope you all are having a similar experience.
